Startup business fear

I have always wanted to own a business. It's always been in my blood. I come from a line of entrepreneurs so it never seemed like much of a challenge but fear. I was scared to fail. Scared to be out there, for people to see me. I have always done a great job of playing the role of having it together but starting a business makes you reevaluate your thoughts , actions and what you are willing to do to make sure the business is successful.

So after much thought and I mean years of thought I purchased a business licensed, logo and business cards. If that isn't diving in I don't know what is. But as much as I have dreaded doing it, I now have to create a business plan. I need investors and I didn't want to go that route.

I guess in short starting a business is like letting people peek into your soul. I know that might seem extreme but you are allowing people in on your thoughts and hoping they need what you want to give.

Although I may seem terrified I'm also extremely excited. My desire to see people succeed in life is what drives me to make my business successful. I don't want people to go through unnecessary things. So as long as I'm fueled by this desire to see people's lives changed I know my fear will not win. Be encouraged!

Couponing Newbie

Okay so I been couponing lately. As you may or may not know I am currently unemployed...boo...But I have been able to spend more time with my babies, work on school and coupon. I have been able to find some really good deals and started following some ig'ers that are umber couponers. I am not extreme though. I just want to start a mini stock pile that can cover 3-6 months. I figure if I am not able to bring money into the household I can save as much of it as I can.
So things I learned in my short week of couponing. Lingo and boy is it confusing but it makes for easy explanation later.
Coupons=qs
Rolling= Using more than on transaction to take advantage of a larger deal.
Filler=using an item to fill to meet a requirement of a deal.
$/I=cost off /how many
So now that we have finished your algebra lesson for the day I will show you some deals I have completed.
Dollar General
I went in after seeing a post from IG couponer kimoralee_of_coupons
I purchased 5 $3 packs of soap totaling $15. I then used the $3/15 from DG website. Then I used 2-$2/2 Oil of olay soap packs and 1-$1/1 Olay coupon.
I had my transaction plan ready bc I didn't want to take a super long time and it still took like 5 minutes. Well I calculated $7 for the soap but there was a glitch or something because when the soap was rung up it automatically took off $.75. I added the Blistex as a filler to equal $15. So u can see the receipt.
I also have a 2 haul I will post tomorrow

Ray Rice new face of domestic abuse...well he shouldn't be.

As promised I am going to address the Ray rice issue. Please be mindful these are my thoughts. If you don't like them I am open to dialogue so here it goes. This is an excerpt from a paper I wrote for class. In case you didn't know I'm about a semester and a half from my Masters...thank you God.

Here ya go:
I  have a few issues with this case but my biggest qualm is that I don’t feel the punishment warrants the action. In the real world I wouldn’t lose my job for beating up my spouse. Do I think it is unfortunate that this happened?  Absolutely! But I do not feel that he should have lost his income because of it, no. When I was employed with Marriott there was a benefit that allowed anyone with a substance abuse problem or mental issues to get help and still have their job if they had to go away to rehab. Firing him is not going to address the reason behind why he felt that was the best course of action in that situation. I was always taught that men shouldn’t hit woman and that takes me to my next issue.
Although I was taught that men shouldn’t hit woman, women shouldn’t hit men either. I feel that as adults you should be able to verbally communicate your differences, talk through the issue and respect each other enough to agree to disagree if you can’t reach common ground. I watched this tape before I decided to write this article and to me it looked as though she was just as aggressive in this situation. No, he shouldn’t have hit her but she lunged at him as if to hit him although I sure he could take the hit. Again I’m not trying to justify what happened but at what point should a person sit and be disrespected or provoked. Just because I don’t touch you don’t mean I’m not in your personal space.

Lastly I feel that Roger Goodell is LYING, yes with a capital L-Y-I-N-G. I don’t believe that Ray Rice lied to him. I believe the NFL had the tape and knew exactly what happened and that they were okay as long as they thought that tape wouldn’t be released. Goodell is saving face.  Goodell said he gave the punishment that he did because Rice and his then fiancĂ©e came to him and discussed what happened (Van Natta Jr., 2014). Why would he lie to Goodell and tell the truth to his team Manager and Coach. The damage was already done. Goodell should have stood by the original punishment and left well enough alone. If Rice told the truth, served his “time” or paid penance why go back and put a nail in the coffin. If my children eat a cookie after I said not to and I put them in time out I can’t go back and issue a week long punishment. I could but what am I teaching them; that you can’t apologize for you actions and be forgiven? Its all wrong to me.  We encourage the NFL to hit hard and be merciless then we are in shock when they act that way at home. Chew on that for a minute.

Im gonna talk about what I want

Okay so someone said "Shannon are you reading those posts I send you?" Of course I am but the depth of my reading is what was lacking. So I got a little offended which I have the tendency to do that from time to time. But who doesn't when someone asks you if you are reading some thing that you know you skimmed over. A bit paranoid much...um.. yeah I was then he said something profound. " Shannon you have to write about what you like." So I got the thinking I like the challenging stuff. Who doesn't if you say you dont you are a lie...Everyone likes to play the devils advocate. So with that being said I will be posting my thoughts on the Ray Rice "scandal". Not that it is a scandal because domestic abuse is real and we only care now because we can see a tape of it on national TV but walk past the lady or guy, yes guy on the street who has a black eye or limb that we know they got from a partner. But Ima sip my tea though...were is kermie when you need him.....Oh there he is

CHALLONGE...Yeah I know I mispelled it:)

We have an older home, circa 1953 with new guts. Problem is we have way more stuff than families in 1953 had. The question is how do we balance pack rat boys with organized Mommy and I'm tired of seeing this Daddy. You make your house your home.

I have have been on a journey to organize this house since we moved in back in 2012. There is no built in storage accept in the garage turned side room that has no name because it seems oddly out of place. I am so tired of seeing stuff just sitting around like the lazy cousin that came to stay for a week and you blink and its been a year.

I have am a list person even though I fell out of it after life happened. Here is my list of what needs to happen.

  1. Organize the nursery. (I did as much as I could but Mason is sharing a room with Daddy's clothes)
  2. Organize the nameless side room and make it a Man Cave. (Has all of our old furniture in it.)
  3. Make my bedroom a haven of comfort and sexiness. (Right like that is gonna happen)
  4. Get bunk beds for the little people with storage underneath for shoes. ( Will be official super soon.)
  5. Do something to my yard
  6. Complete my dream board
Now before I got too far in any of this I am that person that has a thought in their mind and I am blessed to get it. No lie. When we purchased our house the table we had in storage was damaged and we had no table. Someone blessed us with a table and basically told us we could have whatever we could see in their shed. I have never had that happen...Maybe it is all apart of the The Secret. Yes I believe it is true. Judge me later.

Can I just vent for a minute.

Today is one of those days where you look at the calendar and feel you have accomplished nothing in prospective to time. Since my last post I have had the baby, totally neglected my studies and heard the stories of those around me. Earlier this year I promised myself I was going to give more and try to be a better me.

I have experienced deaths, marriages, births and changes that are beyond my control. I feel like my life is not my own and that change is necessary in order to survive. No I'm not depressed or anything. I just feel like some of my more recent changes in life were beyond me.

For instance, when people your age start dying it makes you want to value everyday a little more. It makes me sad that some ppl may never get the concept of enjoying like. All Im saying is enjoy the life that you have now. Either adapt or be prepared for things to phase out while yours still just existing.

I am a reality show junkie and like the ones based out of Alaska like Frontier Men and some new one whose name I can't recall. Those people truly appreciate life and understand that anyday could be there last. So I say all of this to encourage someone to step out and be happy. Enjoy life. You dont have money to pay the bill send what you got and go visit some friends that make you laugh, like side splitting laugh. Lost a loved one, go find volunteer at a hospice. Dont have money to buy clothes or dining out go see a homeless shelter. I guarantee you your prospective will change.

We can all do better. I have always been mindful that there is more to the world then my small drop of issues. Someone may have it worse or they might not. But we can all choose to wear a smile even if its gummy....

Until next time,

$267.80=$44.67...well it does in my mind

If you know me personally you know I am frugal. My coworker says I make a dolla holla, lol. I mean I can't help it. Especially now. My husband has done sales for years and this past year has been rough and we have 2 boys and 1 in the belly. I have no choice but to save where I can.

Today I was able to purchase my children some clothing at Children's Place. Although my plan was to purchase items for Uriah(the boy), I  noticed that they had 50% off of spring and fall items plus my favorite sale which is $20 cash back for every $40 you spend.

So had I paid regular price for what I did today I would have spent $267.80 which would make me sick to my stomach.
With the discount that was 30-50% off the price was down to $115.56. Because I had an additional coupon I was able to get 30%-25%off I spent a total of $88.89. On top of that I got two $20 Children's Place cash and I use E-bates which will give me 2.5% of what I spent. Although I spent $88.89 I will receive $44.22 back in rebates/free clothes. So my grant total was...drum roll please $44.67

I purchased 21 shirts. Nine for the boy and 12 for the man child . All of the man child's shirts are for Fall, while The boy's shirts are for this spring and summer.

If you aren't great a couponing don't beat your self up. It takes practice.

I will update pics once I get my camera that I was able to purchase for sale as well.

Until next time,

Financial Organization 101

Since I'm having a harder time sleeping due to the little guy having play time in my belly, I spent most of my night thinking of how I was going to make my home more efficient. Right now its kinda like potty training a child. Its something you want to do because you know it will make your life easier but you KNOW its going to take some discipline on your part.

Well I have decided to share my first step to better organization. I focused on my finances. I have found that finances have more power then the the electric company. If your money is funny then the rest of you is sure to crumble. Nothing is worse than purchasing something and thinking who you have to rob to do it and you definitely don't want to poop where you eat borrow money from people.

So without further ado this is my plan. Many of us dread the word budget. Its like you cussed when you ask someone about or you get this face.
Once I sat and actually got to what was bothering me the most I realized I wasn't focused like I use to be. I moved out at 17 but became financially independent from my parents at 21. This is what I learned thus far

  1. Give to something less fortunate than you...trust me it works
  2. Have multiple accounts with a purpose but like no more than 3-4 tops.
  3. Have a plan for your check like its a tax refund, lol....sorry I had to go there
  4. Under no circumstance should you let anyone have access to your account
  5. Never co-sign for anyone
  6. You don't have to have credit like most people think
  7. Save money with a purpose.
  8. You can purchase a car without a loan...Irony moment my hubby sells cars
  9. When you grow up and feel old get life insurance, j/k...but get life insurance
  10. Create a will
  11. Have multiple sources of income
  12. Don't poop where you eat...you may hate this analogy but it will catch
I guess the word of the hour should be purpose. I like that though because we are best when we exist with a purpose. If you don't know your purpose its okay. I'm still defining mine.

Until Next Time

AHHH someone help...I'm scared

I am 29, and want a change but am scared. EXHALE that felt good to get out. I want so many things out of life and sometimes feel that so much is going on that I can't place my thoughts together. Maybe I'm the only 20something feeling that was but I doubt it.

The blog will basically discuss how I feel about getting out of debt, trying to start a new business and trying to save money all at the same time. Which means The Payton's will be doing some DIY projects...that saves money right? Did I mention I'm a full time student and mommy of 2.5 kids. I have one in the belly.

I know for sure I plan to show my progress with painting my kitchen cabinets. No I am not a big fan of paint but I am an huge fan of saving money so there ya go:) I can thank bloggers like addicted 2 decoratings kitchen remake and domestic imperfections.

My first series will be on getting organized and hopefully staying that way....Yeah right I know I have no time to be organized but I have found that it has helped ease my mind.

Until next time.
